The founders of the unorthodox cosmetic brand Herbar, Catarina Oliveira and Rui Liu, met in a Berlin cafe during a casual conversation about a caffeine-free coffee alternative made from healthy mushrooms.
And the shared fascination with alternative medicine and adaptogens – substances that increase the body's resistance to stressful situations – hasn't left the duo even after five years. They started their joint project with universal skin care in the form of an oil loaded with extracts of reishi mushrooms, tremella, Chinese jujube, hemp and bakuchiol, which is complemented by a guasha massage stone in the shape of a small mushroom.
